Fire safety

Today the Long Lake Fire Department visited Westwoods and taught the students about fire safety.  Students practiced staying low and getting out of the gym safely, thinking about their family plan for a fire in the home, what to do if their clothes catch on fire, what number to call if their is a fire and to remind their families to change the batteries in their smoke detectors.  

What can you do at home with your child to reinforce this learning?

• Make a plan and a meeting space
• Find 2 ways out of every room
• Show your child how to call 9-1-1
• Practice stop, drop and roll
• Check your smoke alarms and show your child what the alarm sounds like
