Candy awards were a hit!

The students loved hearing about everyone's award, how they were chosen and super excited to see which award they would get!  These fabulous kids are going to do great things in their lives, I just know it.  Their love of learning, curiosity, determination and desire for knowledge inspire me daily!

Games and Popsicles with our 5th grade buddies

Wednesday all of the kids enjoyed playing the fun games and working together to accomplish a task.  The students exchanged cards and ate Popsicles, the sun shined and it was the perfect end to a fabulous year of reading buddies.

Reading buddies with Mrs. McPherson

Students love to share their reading skills with new friends.  Students shared their wow pages that they marked because they learned something that wowed them or a part in a story where they were surprised.  What a great way to end the last Friday of the year.

Science Living and Nonliving Walk

Students explored living and nonliving items on a nature walk.  They looked at a variety of plants, found the parts of the plants we have been learning about.  They were excited to learn that we have apple trees on school property.

Planting plants

Today we planted our green beans.  We have been talking about what living things need to live.  We are hoping these seeds germinate and the kids can see the very beginning stages of the plant life cycle!

Questions to ask your child:

  • Do all living things need the same thing?
  • What is a living thing?
  • Why do the roots of a plant grow down?
  • Why does the shoot grow up?
  • Where do plants get their food?
