What a great way to wrap up ABC Boot Camp.  Thank you for all of your support in the creation of these fabulous vests.  

Apple Crunch 🍎

A fire drill ended with a surprise for everyone last week.  We participated in the Apple Crunch event. Every person at Westwoods, crunched at the same time.  Our kindergartens LOVED this sweet surprise.  More than 400 thousand Michiganders took part in this event.

Movement break fun

GoNoodle is by far the kids favorite way to get their wiggles out. This resource can be used at home too.  We do a variety of these throughout our day from dancing to brainercise to yoga and quieting of the mind. Here are a few of my favorite videos that I selfishly choose to take me back and get our blood pumping.

Comparing quantities

Students used comparing mats and tiles to help easily compare quantities of numbers 0-5.  Students made statements about the quantities using mathematical vocabulary such as more, less, equal, greater, less than.  Students shared their statements on the golden mic and LOVED every minute of it.  

What can you do at home to help support your children at home?  

Have them compare quantities of large spoons/forks at dinner, spoons/forks vs knives on the table.  Comparing objects around the house of variety of sizes, how does size impact the quantity/comparison?   

Apples apples and apples

Apple sauce was a hit!   How is Apple sauce made?  Ask your child what is necessary to break down the apples to be able to make apple sauce in a short period of time? Is it the tool used? Is it a change in temperature?  Or is it a combination of both?  We used a large varietal of apples and heat to make today’s glorious end of the day treat.  

Move a thon fun

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers, parents, community members that help make today’s event a success. Keep gathering those donations as they will be collected through October 19.  It was cold but it was a blast!
