TCHS food pantry drive
Wow! What a generous community we are here in kindergarten at Westwoods. Students are so proud of their efforts and excited to help people in the community. Thank you for all that you do!

Defending your thinking
How do you know?

What makes you say that?
These two questions are becoming the norm for the students in the classroom. These questions push the students to think about their learning, when answering questions, solving problems and moving through their critical thinking development by providing evidence for their thinking. Guessing without thought is out the window. Here a few students share their thinking in math and students can make observations about strategies, ask questions for clarification and even challenge their peers thinking.
All school sing a long
Thank you to those who were able to join our school community for the holiday sing a long.

Ornament making party
A huge thank you to all of the amazing volunteer that helped make today a HUGE success. Students are so proud of their ornaments and cannot wait to share them with the ones they love.
Math centers
Students have been practicing independence in math centers while I work with small groups to meet each child where they are at. Students take care of their materials, use the materials appropriately and have stamina in their mathematical thinking. What can you do to help your child be successful during independent work? Reinforce taking out materials and returning them to their home in the same condition or better when they are finished.

Sight word Tic Tac Toe
Students in our class taught Mrs. Johnson’s kindergarten class how to play tic tac toe using sight words. In place of x and o students use a sight word that they write in their space and say out loud each turn. After one game, partners switch words and play again.
