Math special guest

Our class was extremely lucky to have an expert in Math in Focus (our current math curriculum) visit our classroom.  We learned a new game, explore tens and ones with numbers from 70-100 and applied our current knowledge to a new situation.  Students have been working on counting tens and ones for the past few weeks.  We have used cubes, counters, tens frames and today we applied that knowledge to a blank 100s chart.  It was awesome to hear the students work together to problem solve this activity and prove their thinking.  We are working on how to count efficiently when faced with large amounts of objects.  Stay tuned for ideas to support your child with this at home.
