Mystery reader 4

Dr.  Novak was mystery reader number 4.  She shared a favorite book: The Chocolate Covered Cookie Tantrum.   This book was an awesome fit for many of us that want things in life right now.  Waiting is hard and this book was easy for the students to connect with and share their feelings about wanting and waiting.

Partner share

As students finish their work they are building the habit of checking in with a partner to share their thinking, revise if necessary and learn/teach a peer.

Holiday Directed drawing fun

Valentine’s Day fun

Valentine’s Day is magical in kindergarten!  Students sat and read the valentine’s from their friends for over 30 minutes!  We played good old fashion telephone and did Mad Libs.   Our day was filled with activities we love!  Spreading love one action at a time.

Memory games make math fun

Students use number cards, cards with tens frames, and pictorial representations of numbers 0-10 to play memory.  The students have even taught the other kindergarten classes how to play!

Language Arts centers = independence

Every day students engage in literacy activities independently to reinforce previous learning and work on automaticity with letter identification, letter-sound correspondence, reading and writing.
